From quietly quitting to the Workplace Wave – this new research from Allianz shows that 2 million people will be looking for a new role in the next 6-12 months.
This research has also shown that there is a disconnect between how Managers perceive their employees engagement levels and how employees have said how engaged they feel in their current roles. It really highlights the need for organisations to create cultures that foster mentally healthy workplaces – leaders need to be trained and equipped with the skills to have conversations.
There are a number of factors contributing to the disconnect including burnout and fatigue, staff shortages due to low talent acquisition and not being adequately compensated for the work they are doing. Dr Mark Cross commented on the results, you may remember him from when he spoke to us about creating Mentally Healthy Workplaces. Dr Cross is one of Australia’s leading psychiatrists and an amazing human being. He states “you have to have a culture that welcomes discussions of mental health issues, you have to have Managers and those in senior roles trained in mental health preparedness because mental health is a part of workplace health and safety.”
How have you equipped your Managers? Have you asked questions around these areas or is your engagement survey coming up – can you look at some of these areas.
We are always here for a confidential conversation, be you looking for a new opportunity in an organisation that values a Mentally Healthy workforce or some help from the right people to transition your business to a more mentally healthy culture – we are here to help.
With the right people in place, great workplace relations, development of your people and Managers equipped to have the right conversations teams will flourish and it should show in the retention of the right people.
